Meet your Hosts

Darryl & Vickie

We moved here 5 yrs ago and love it! Been working on upgrading and fixing just about everything. We live off-grid, but have solar power and a generator. We have a big garden and orchard. 2 of our tent sites are close to the house and outhouse, 150ft or so. I process firewood and do handyman work, while the mrs. works from home on the computer, so there is always someone here if we're needed.

A look at

Our Features

We have 4 campsites available for tents or 2 for RVs.

We have 100 acres of mixed conifers, including red and white pine. The property boasts a vast variety of flora and fauna, including deer, grouse, porcupine, reptiles like salamanders, hummingbirds and songbirds along with the usual woodland critters, so bring your camera! It is also possible to spot black bears, coyotes, lynx and bobcats.

Enjoy the large common fire pit on our property, perfect for gathering and sharing stories under the stars. A newer cedar outhouse is conveniently located within a 5-minute walk from the tenting sites. Explore our trails, which offer a rugged adventure with alvars and unique flora. Nearby, discover beautiful lakes ideal for kayaking, fishing, and serene exploration. Pitch a hammock under the towering pines for a peaceful retreat. Just 10 minutes away, Misery Bay Provincial Park awaits your visit. Additionally, explore the nearby native reserves of Zhiibaahaasing and Sheshegwaning, home to the world's largest drum and dream catcher.

Locals are friendly and our resident woodworker has some beautiful carvings to see. It is fairly quiet and peaceful, as we are not on the highway. If you time it right you may find mushrooms, or wild strawberries and raspberries. There is a local diner 5 mins away. We are 420 friendly.

Reviews

Perfect start to our holiday! Darryl and Vicky were lovely hosts and the spot to park our RV was great. Hubby and son enjoyed the fishing trip and we all loved the time around the campfire.

I loved our campsite at Darryl’s place! Very private campsite and nice trails around the property. We got to spend some time with Darryl and Vicky around the fire, such kind and fun people! Darryl told us lots about the local wildlife. Great place to stop on the first leg of a long trip and a memorable experience.

Fox Den (I think that’s the one…) is a great secluded spot, yet open and huge and natural remote from the outhouse (toilet) and Daryl and Vicky’s house, still easily accessible, either by a path from the house or by a forest road without bothering the host. 10 mins by car, easily done cycling also, from Misery Bay and its beautiful trails; about half an hour from Sheshegwaning beautiful trail along the Georgian bay; about 20 min drive from Gore Bay. Great showers may be found at marinas or try the lakes…
